before you hit submit

Hi there and thank you for stopping by! I am here to help with any editorial needs you may have (and I promise to let you know if I'm not qualified for your particular project!). Importantly -- for anyone looking to work with me -- I am easy to talk to and very open-minded and I will put everything into my work with you. I love connecting with all sorts of people, including high school students applying to colleges and younger students applying to private schools. I have 18 years of editorial experience in publishing, as well as a background in psychology, and a lifelong love of stories. I have found this combination of skills and experience a perfect fit for editing personal essays.
A little (more) about me (for the one or two people still reading): I earned my degree in Psychology with a minor in Creative Writing at Hamilton College. I am a graduate of GrubStreet's Novel Generator program, a nine-month course led by novelist Annie Hartnett. I have taken many courses at GrubStreet and attended several of their writing conferences. I have been an active member of a writing critique workshop group with fellow novelists for 5+ years. My creative work has appeared in The Boston Globe Magazine, Ginosko Literary Journal, and The Writing Disorder.
For several years, I worked in mental health advocacy at a psychosocial rehabilitation center, where I also launched and led a creative writing group for clients. Following my years of employment in the mental health field, I began editorial work at an electronic medical publishing company. My time there spanned 18 years, with roles including Editorial Assistant, Research Coordinator, Associate Managing Editor, and Editorial Consultant. I am now actively building my business as a freelance college essay coach and editor.
I am a mother of three -- two humans and one dear pup named Duncan. I love animals, music and dancing, writing stories, reading books, psychology and human behavior, crafting and art, and anything that makes me laugh, think, and feel.
